<sigh> Isn't that one of the most beautiful airplanes ever? Compared to the Nimrod, the Spitfire falls short (though not by THAT much).

Ozzy's just glad that the ORIGINAL Spitfire concept wasn't put into production (open cockpit, fixed year, cranked wings)

Just to be picky...
That isn't a Dragon Rapide. The RAF version (as that seems to be) was called the Dominie.
Woodlouse2002 PITA and BAR!!!!!!!!&&&&Our Sovereign Lord the King chargeth and commandeth all persons, being assembled, immediately to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, upon the pains contained in the Act made in the first year of King George the First for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies. Woody, it's in the wartime markings of Scottish Airways and not the RAF
That makes it a Rapide not a Dominie.
Top stuff Charlie old chap.

...Although come to mention it I believe it was built as a Dominie for an RAF order, before going to Scottish Airways Ltd in something like '43 or '44. Maybe that makes it a "Dragon Dominie" or "Dominie Rapide"...

I have to say that Type 224 was a bit of a dog
But nothing compares to the beauty of a Merlin engined Spit, gorgeous beyond words and Felix if you disagree then its marmalade time
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
