I've been going on about it for long enough so here they are for what it's worth. A few photos from the last big display of the season - the Autumn Air Show at Duxford. It was a great day out but not one of my best with the camera. I hope Tempest did better than I did.

These are from the first part of the show.

Your pics are always my favorites Hagar. Smiley Awsome as always. Shocked

I have a TON of pics I want to post from yesterday when I got to take a ride in a Ford Tri-Moter.

Oh, remember I told you about the DC-3 junkyard near my house? Well, I didnt get to see it from the ground but I got a great picture of it from the air.  Wink

Pics will be up shortly!

P.S. What are those new fangled jets doing in there? Wink

The photos look Ok to me Doug, Was anything mentioned regarding the Sea Fury, it was reported that it only made one pass then landed. Then took off around 5pm  and flew around the local area for a while.

These are some of the better ones hastily cropped/resized for posting here. You should see the ones I messed up. Roll Eyes

Not sure what was up with the Sea Fury. (The commentary was less than brilliant. IMHO) It did one single pass (which I missed) then landed. He seems to be a tad careful with it. This is not surprising knowing the bad luck they've had with them in the past. The current display pilot has less than 10 hours on type & maybe he's not taking any chances, especially at the end of the season. I noticed they seemed worried about a prop oil leak after it arrived. It left for home when I was stuck in the traffic jam trying to get out of the airfield. (I assumed he was heading for home, maybe not.) Wish I'd hung around for an hour instead of wasting it sitting in my car. I'll know better next time, if there is a next time.*

The Spits come in the 2nd part. Don't get too excited as they're not brilliant. Anyone heard from Tempest? I was depending on him to get better ones.

*PS. Maybe the good folks at Duxford can rotate the airfield 180 degrees before I go again. Then it would be perfect. Wink

Nice photo's Doug - Storch and Jungmeister particularly...

Anyway, the Sea Fury did a few passes with the Sea Hawk, held to the north for a few minutes then did a straight in approach to land. At the end of the show it took off, and re-appeared 15-20 minutes later, joined overhead, flew a circuit and landed. I left the field at 1800 and it was still there then...

I got in my car at 1620, drove 50 yards in 40 minutes, parked again and went to browse the rest of the stall that were still open. Bought a nice pair of Vulcan socks (socks with Vulcans on them) from the XH588 people.

Not exactly a copy. http://www.warbirdalley.com/storch.htm Quote:
Fieseler began building the Storch in Germany, but was soon forced to move production to Morane-Saulnier in France (as the M.S.500 Criquet) and Mraz in Czechoslovakia (as the K-65 Cap). This was done to make room for the BF 109 at the Fieseler plant.

After the end of WWII Morane Saulnier continued manufacturing it as the MS.500 Criquet powered by various engines. I believe this one is an example of a post-WWII version. At least we can see this unique aircraft in the air. I don't think many original examples exist & any that do will be stuck away in some dusty museum.
