Hi all,

I run fs9 on a 9200 with 128mb on

AMD XP 3000+
512 PC DDR 2700
Onboard AC '97
Windows XP Home Edition

I just ordered a Saphire ATI 9600 PRO with 256mb of ram, this one right here
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-407&depa=0

Will I see a difference with that card?  I get poor performance around big airports with the current card.
I went to another forum and they told me that there is only a little difference between the 9200 and the 9600PRO but I don't beleive that.

Thanks in advance

I woulda tried to squeeze up to a 9800pro.  You may see a difference but I doubt it will be that big.  Also another 512 ram wouldn't hurt.

The 9600pro is a massive improvement over the 9200.

Although there are a lot more cards now offering better performance.

Sorry to say it but a long while ago I bought a 9600 pro.  I think I kept it in the machine about a month or a month and a half before I ditched it for a 9800XT.

best,

You'd probably be better with a Radeon 9800pro or even an X700pro or Geforce 6600GT. You'd definately get the most out of the last two. They retail for $200USD.

I know a 9800PRO or better would be a huge improvement but I can't afford to spend $200 USD.
I bought it hoping that it would be much better than the one I currently have.

Thanks all

I don't know how much the 9800 is. It was quite pricy here the last time I checked and we make 'em.

Just looking the 9600 isn't that bad. The 9600XT beat the new X600 on bench tests averaging a dencent 25.5fps average on Doom3. The X600 is really getting spanked. So much for it being the answer to the 6600. You'll probably be ok.

I finally Installed the card today and it sure was a big improvement over the 9200. Playing fs9 around big airports fps do drop some but the picture quality looks much better.
Playing BF 1942 MAX I see no performance drop so I'm happy with it.
