That's one mighty sleak plane Doug. But i just think that gear look soooo fragile...

Engineering is such a marvel, guess it's as solid as it needs to be multiplied by a safetyfactor...

The RV series are pretty little planes but the gear legs always looked a tad fragile to me. I noticed some crease marks in the fuselage skin behind the main legs of one I examined more closely at a fly-in. The raked back angle is certainly unusual & I can't think of any other type with this feature.

Have you seen a Nesmith Cougar/Whittman Tailwind?....I believe they both have a similar style of main gear setup ?

Come to think of it I'm sure a Tailwind visits Shoreham. It might even be based there. I might have a photo of it somewhere. I'm sure there are other types with a similar main gear arrangement. It adds to the streamlined look but it seemed all wrong to me when I first saw it.
