Thats because I had the wrong water scenery installed using Ocean FX 2. I had it set for maximum waves.

It looks MUCH better now, and I have installed the latest drivers. Looks AWESOME now

Yeah I did the exact same upgrade from the ATI Radeon 9800 128MB and not only is image quality that much better, but performance is right where I want it!!   Grin  I'm pleased with Nvidia so far.  This is my first Nvidia card EVER. Haha

I'd also like to upgrade, but I'd have to re-format my whole computer before I do it,. That should be standard praxis when switching videocards btw.
My 9800XT did not work too well on my old rig when it replaced the 4600ti  Sad...fecked up pretty big  Grin

Anyways wont upgrade until spring (if I can afford it). Winter's almost here which means studying for upcoming aviation school interviews, aswell as guiding my youth hockey team to further success(?), AND play hockey twice a week with my other team...all this while working full time and having a girlfriend living far from me.......how the hell will I ever have time to visit her???...winter means celibacy for ol' Nex.  Grin

Sorry for the rant guys, I get this melancholic in the nights  8)

Now where were we?..oh yes the graphics cards,...

I don't see a difference. A 9800pro should be faily sufficient for good frames and good quality.

Heretic, my bro has a 9800pro, and a similar base setup as me.  He could nowhere near hold the FPS and settings I have mine set at.  IQ is better IMO on the 6800 than the 9800pro too.

He came round had a go one mine and is amazed how good it looks. Screenies dont really do it justice.  What I see on my 19" monitor running at 1600x1200 4xaa and 8xaf is way better than a screeny posted here  Grin

Anyhow nice shots Savas I got those bipes too, they are pretty sweet and I love racing the train hehehe.

The 6800 is faster than the 9800XT which I have, no doubt about it...but it is really worth the $$$ just to get a marginal FPS boost  ???
Because we are not talking about day and night here, it's not a MX2 vs the 6800, it's the one year old 9800XT which in a CPU depending game like FS performs extremely good. If I want more FPS I'd buy a better cooling system and increase the clock freq. of my Athlon 64 processor.  Smiley

I have my FPS locked at 35. I get the same result regardless antialiasing and other goodies turned on or OFF. In my case (and that goes for the most of us here), the limit is set by the computer and it's memories.

A 6800 would not increase my FPS by much, so with some consideration, I think I'll pass the GFX upgrade  Smiley

However, if we were talking about heavy graphic games like Aquanox or Farcry, then hell yeah I'd buy a new card in a jiffy Grin

People looking to buy new cards might want to check this out.

AS you said, I play other games that use up the power of my graphics card  Grin thats one reason for me getting it I dont just play FS2004, well not until this week as BOTA has started and its all I'm doing lol.

It way out performs a 9800pro in FS2004 I know that much dunno about the 9800xt though.

I think that's an issue with ATI.  I couldn't get video card settings to effect image quality or performance (when turning settings down).

My friend has a older Nvidia card and moving video card settings on that thing makes a HUGE difference in both areas.

It's not hard to determine if FSAA and AA is activated, but when I unlock the frames I see a difference in the FPS. Without the goodies turned on, I have well above 100fps at times, when they are activated it drops to around 45-50, but not below 35  Smiley

And juggling with different drivers has finally made me a happy man (thanks Omega).

IF (and that's a big IF), I will buy a new card it will be the X800XT, only because I get a discount on ATi products.
