I have a homebuild P4 rig, and I want to spend a little cash on it.  My system stats are.
Asus P4C800
P4 2.4b
Corsair TwinX 3200 Low Latency 512mb
WD Raptors 36Gig X 2 in RAID 0
Maxtor 120 gig 7200
Radeon 9600 Pro AIW
Audigy 2
DVD rom
52X Lite On CDRW
Althought I played a lot of flying games as a kid, I'd say I'm a rookie still w/ the sims.  I'm looking for a way to improve my experience.  My thought are
- upgrade to 3.2e prescott chip
- up memory to 1 gig
- flat panel monitor to use w/ current 17 in CRT
- CH pedals
- TrackIR3 ( someone tell me if these are worth it)
Which would you do, or am I forgeting something.  Feedback is appreciated.

Ok ill start u off all over from the start Smiley

Intel P4 3.8 gig extreme edition (overclock to around 4.5 gig)
New intel mobo forgot what it is though but has 2 agp slots

Then you get 4 gig of ram

200gb 10000rpm hd

dual (2) geforce 6800 ultra's

550 watt power supply

water cooling

own heatsink

and a 30 inch flat screen moniter

Hows that for a rig Smiley ok that was more like a joke though here is what u should really do

Ok get

amd athlon 64 proccessor like the 3200-53FX

100gb HD 7200 rpm or bigger

geforce 6800 or 6800 gt graphics card

1g of ram

That setup right there will make u a very happy man Smiley

Okay, the 6800 or X800 is going to be an end of the year deal.  I already have effectively 180 gigs of hard drive space, both raptors are 10,000 rpms. The  AMD processor is out, because I'd have to 86 the Asus board.  What else ya got?

1.  Upgrade to P4 3.2e

2.  Get more RAM.  1 gig running in dual channel would be nice...if you can support it.

3.  GeForce 6800GT 256MB

Those three mods did me wonders, and I expect the same results for you.

Good luck.   Grin

I've never seen a mobo with 2 AGP slots. Perhaps your thinking of PCI Express. nVidia has an SLI adapter in which you can connect two video cards together effictively doubling your graphics processing power.  That's only available for the 6600 and 6800 PCX series.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.
