Okay, this may be more of a Aircraft Design topic, so feel free to move it . . .

I have been creating a few aircraft, and have recently been trying to make night textures for a couple of them.  But I ran into a LARGE problem!

The default aircraft (as far as I can tell) use a 256x256 BMP and an alpha channel.  So I created my night textures as that and saved them as such_and_such_L.BMP, and then added the alpha channel.

Shouldn't this work?  I am completely stumped . . .

I'm probably wrong, but try it anyway...

Take the night texture bitmap and paint it Pure Black, then convert the bitmap into 8 bit, leave out the Alpha Channel.

What happens if you leave out the night bitmaps? Does the aircraft become transparent?

What modelling program are you using - gWax or FSDS?

Also, when making your model (in the appropriate step) are you clicking on the flags to show it has a night light map?  (In FSDS there is a special flag and you add _LM to the texture...

Good ol Gmax is what I got.

I have been checking the "Has Night Map" and "Has Light Map" functions while converting, but I still have no textures at night.  Its almost as if the program doesn't see them in the folder . . . ???
