This PBY has just recently returned from a summer tour to stay with us over winter. Last time she was here I didn't take my camera with so while waiting on the B17 to arrive I took a few shots. Even though she won't fit in my lense I think you can tell how pretty she is! She is also a star in a History Channel program about the Catalina.
But the most unusual part of this beast is the "nose art" actually painted on the engine, if you look close enough you'll tell that it is a "male" blue balls and all!
If anyone knows the story behind this particular paint please let me know I have looked around and yet to find anything. My guess it is suppose to represent what the men who flew this bird went through while doing thier tours???

That's some interesting "cowling" art that kitty has.
And did you get any shots of the birdies in the background?
Looks like a Thunderbolt and a Wildcat.

Aww c'mon woodie, you KNOW that not all 'cats had blisters, and of those that did, some were converted to sliding covers, etc. Note also it doesn't have the front turret.
This 'cat is probably a Catalina Mark. B for "Bitzer" as in a bit from here, bit from there ...

Yes! This is the TN Museum of Avaition, in my home town so you know I spend a lot of time there
I volunteer there just about every weekend.
Some of the planes there include 2 flying P47 (So far research has proved we are the only museum in the US that has two flyable P47, and so far it is proving in the world!), we also have a TBM Avenger, a few T6's (SNJ, Harvard) three different Migs (19,21,? ) T34's (A local fleet
) Shooting Star, T33, and a few others.
And the reason I'm there every weekend is because you never know what may show up, In the past the T33 Red Knight, F4U Corsair "Marines Dream", B17, DC3/ C47's, etc. Many just stop in on thier way to where ever
I guess I should start a post highlighting "my" museum!

That's not a bad idea at all Fret. It looks a very interesting place & I would like to know more about it.
All these places rely on voluntary helpers to exist. If Old Warden was a tad closer to me I would offer my services.
