The history of aviation safety in the United States is somewhat analogous to golf. It's fairly easy to get under 100 if you take some lessons and play once in a while. With a little more investment and a little more practice, you can get to 90. With still more effort, maybe you can get to 80. But if you are ever going to reach 72, you have to work very hard.
