...good ones but allas they turned out bad. if you see the following photo, you'll know what i mean:
focus was ok, sharpness ok (considering the lens), composition
definitaly not ok! photos like this really can ruin my day!
did you ever experience this? photos that were very good except for one reason?

oh so many times:) one of the bad things with photography, if you miss something good its usually gone forever
Nice photo none the less good shot of the F-15 and the fact that you got a good portion of the mustang in givves the viewer an idea of what your aim was.(no pun intended)

There is a way to counter this a bit........don't zoom so close and shoot at the highest res you can. Higher resolutions will allow you to still zoom in on screen as the monitor only requires 72 dpi at your 800x600, 1024x768 or whatever you use. Even a 2 MP camera can fill some of the void by shooting 1600x1200.....with 3-4-5 MP cameras you will still have adequate file information to print a very acceptable image from the modified file........ 8)

I took plenty just like that this weekend. I find aircraft in formation very difficult to cope with. In the end I used Rifleman's solution. This didn't always work out as I zoomed out too far just in case. I was scared to take full advantage of the zoom which was the main reason I purchased the camera.
PS. I know how you feel Bones. That would have been a great shot.
