The 2 RAF Harriers have been a familiar sight around here for the past few weeks. I popped into the airport this morning to say goodbye.

...

Started up & ready to go. Bye chaps. It's been great

A last look before they depart for home. Traditional beat up of the tower. They were reprimanded last year for flying too low. This was the shot I really wanted but I went & messed it up - again. Angry
Ah well, it's better than the patch of empty sky I expected. Wink
...

Fantastic. These wonderful machines never cease to amaze & impress me. It's hard to believe that the Harrier first flew over 40 years ago at Dunsfold just a few miles from here. The crew told me they have one more show before the end of the display season. With all the defence cuts going on I'm not sure when or if I'll see them again. Roll Eyes

Grin Grin Grin You will see them again next year Doug, the great thing about the GR7/GR9's is the Airforce love displaying them. Stunning shots, I would be very grateful if i could have large copies of the 1st 3rd and last shots please.
Great work as always mate.

Lovely photos Doug, when I was at Gütersloh we had two Harrier squadrons (3 and 4) sharing the base with us. Nice lads. They'd just got the GR7 and we got the exciting opportunity to watch two of them crash (no injuries) Roll Eyes Grin
Still love the Harrier though.

Nice shots Doug, the last one turned out pretty good.  It looks like the pilot in #2 was looking right at you when you took the photo (but you must have been a ways away)-that shot came out nice.  They look good.

WOW! Those are great. I can't wait to see those shots but with F-35's in a few years. Cheesy

Any moment, everything can change, Feel the wind on your shoulder, For a minute, all the world can wait, Let go of your yesterday. Can you hear it calling? Can you feel it in your soul? Can you trust this longing? And take control, Fly! Open up the part of you that wants to hide away! You can shine, Forget about the reasons why you can't in life, And start to try, cause it's your time, Time to fly. - H.D., Fly

The good old bow to the crowd? not from what has been said. Then again if latest inside reports are to be believed, the F-35 may not be doing anything for the british forces at all Roll Eyes however i cant go into details, partially because what i have right now is sketchy and also partially my dad wants me to keep my mouth shut Lips Sealed LOL
