My system is an HP Pentium III 933MHZ with an ATI graphics card and 512MB of RAM.  I'm heading to Fry's today to get a new Intel 915GEV motherboard (3GHz P4) with 1GB of RAM to see how the performance changes.  I'm "butt dragging" in the performance department in FS2004 at SFO and locations where there is a lot of detail.  Embarrassed

What about the new P4   3.8GHz Extreme with a 2.5MB cache!

Still...  I know AMD are better for gaming.

It's just that, so many people I know, keep on saying that the AMD's bearly last a year, let alone six months.

It can sound like a lot of money if it only last so many months.  But...  That's what I've been told, by quite a few people high up in the computer world.

???

That is well know, expecially with the FX-53 processor, currently the fastest gaming processor around!

(Wish i had one Cry )

AMDs lastest 6-12 months!??!??!  WTF, who on Earth said that?  They need their head examined!  My system has lasted over 2 years now, and i have done loads of stuff to it, which includes putting a new (quieter) HSF and PSU etc...  My Grandparents AMD Duron has lasted over 5 years!  That still runs very well, knowing my Grandparents it will not have been cleaned out, because dust will build up a bit. Shocked

It is possible that information is a bit of a misunderstanding about overclocked AMD's?

AMD's are the processor of choice for overclocking.  So it is possible that they have had that though attributed to them because of overclocking...... and the extra heat.

best,
