... certainly looks like I am spooked by this one, but i was mearly trying to determinate the type of plane

Photo was taken by my girlfriend in France at the Chateau des Baux en provence... I was surprised she took it, beeing no big fan of Simviation or planes...  Grin

Anyway...

...

Using photoshop i tried to enlarge the plane and this is the best i could do at the moment...

...

Anyone knows what this is? it sure was noisy... the pilot kept on going round and round ....

It's a good thing you hadn't upset her. That looks like a pretty big drop behind you. She might have given you a push instead of taking your photo. Shocked Grin

If it makes a lot of noise, and is very slow, it's probably a Microlight fitted with a Rotax twin cylinder, two-stroke engine.... Wink...!
They are all the rage where I live... 8)...!

Cheap to buy, cheap to fly, and loads of fun to boot... Grin...!

Cheers all.... Wink...!

Almost totally convinced that its a Zenith, but you can go here to decide for yourself whether this is it, or not....

.....also near the bottom of the left hand frame, you will find a link to flightsim files .......included, are some updates for 2004

Well done Ken. I checked out the Zenith site & came to the same conclusion. Wink

Fozzer is also correct about the Rotax. I'm not sure if the 912 is a 2-stroke.
Quote:
While all aircraft are designed within certain power and engine weight guidelines, Chris Heintz does not design his aircraft "around" a particular engine - to maximize the customer's choice of installed powerplant.  Recommended power is 65 to 100 horsepower, up to 185 lbs. installed weight.

That said, designer Heintz highly recommends the Rotax 912 series engines for the STOL CH 701:
"If you were to design an engine specifically for the 701,  you would probably end up with an engine much like the Rotax 912.  The 912 provides great reliability, and it's very efficient and smooth-running.  The power-to-weight ratio is good, and Rotax engines are supported worldwide, something that's important to customers around the world," Heintz stated. "While the initial purchase price is significant, the price actually compares very favorably with other engines when factoring in the low operating costs and long life of the engine - many owners are easily exceeding the published TBO."

I have a mild advantage, as we have an 801 based here at Courtenay Airpark and last year we had a 701 on floats based here for a while too, so I have been able to learn the visual line of this family .....

As luck might have it, I went to a Homebuilt Aircraft show about 10 yrs ago in Toronto at the International Center. I was with a good friend who knew and introduced me to Chris Heinz.......a very "together" man !......... if you look into his history, you will see a very illustrious career........
