In case some of you still have no idea, here is Luna, the orphaned Killer Whale.......this waterborne mammal has been observed living in these waters since July 2001 and various unsuccessful attempts have been made to re-acquaint him with other pods.

With some good luck on our side we happened upon the spot at the right time today and got a good half hour show with this very friendly adopted son.....

Right from on the dock we see him come under the pier to visit and just be nosey.......
...

Playing around the stern of a couple of light fishing boats and water taxi's..........
...

...

Across the way, Wendy is getting an eyeful and hopefully a good image of this blow....my one and only shot which I consider a good one.....took eight tries to get this one.......
...

Within 100' of the end of the dock, we see Luna splash and play like a kid........
...

...

...

Now we see its time to go and pester some others who thought they could slip out of the Marina unnoticed !
...

This is what the sign says, on that stanchion in the last image.........
...

And finally, it time to head for deeper waters, for whatever reason Luna can have........I guess he needs to have his private time too..........

Haha! I was right.
However, it's sad that all the attempts failed.

Nice one Ken. What a magnificent animal. Wink

This is my only complaint with ordinary digital cameras. I've missed several great shots because of it. The time delay seems to vary which makes taking action shots a hit & miss affair. I'm thinking of trying a DSLR to see if that has the same problem?

PS. It might be best to leave Luna where he is. You can't interfere with nature & there's still a lot we don't know. Reuniting whales with their pods has not been too successful in the past. They are are family creatures & unless its his own pod he would be rejected.

That's the problem with this whale. It's not in the wild. Luna the whale has been causing a lot of trouble lately. She's become too attatched to humans. This whale has been harassing boaters by bumping into them. There's also a local native tribe that thinks she's some sort of god or something. It's one big pickle of a problem. On one hand the environmentalists want to send her back to her pod but the natives want to keep her around. In true Canadian fashion, I doubt this problem will be solved anytime soon.

It is nice to see some marine animals though. I don't live near any bodies of water. I don't count Lake Ontario as a body of water, I think it's more garbage and seaweed than anything else.  Grin
