???

I have CFS3 ver3.1 and the frame rate fluctuates wildly but generally is between 9 and 25 ;however, when in the presence of the enemy it fluctuates more wildly and sometimes drops to less than 1. This  makes it impossible to engage properly. In fact I usually crash into him or the ground since it's impossible to tell what's going on

I have tried the fixes listed in the help section for monitor problems, have downloaded the latest DirectX,have installed a new video card with 48 mb memory and downloaded new drivers for it, the processor is a Pentium III running at about 1 mhz, and I have 128 mb ram, so I think it should do better than this.

Nothing seems to correct the problem.

HELP ! ! !   Cry Cry Cry

You really need 512mb of RAM and a 128mb video card to get good performance.

This is rather disingenuous of MicroSoft isn't it? To advertise that system requirements of 64 mb of RAM and 16 mb of video ram constitute the system requirements when vastly greater amounts are required to obtain satisfactory results.  This almost smacks of
false advertising.  Wonder if I can get my money back for the game and the video card ? Hah ! ! Fat chance of that.

OK, thanks for your answer. If you come up with any suggestions to improve this poor performance please let me know.

48MB Graphics card? I don't recall that!

Most cards are 2MB,4MB,8MB,16MB,32MB,64MB,128MB or 256MB... No doubt 512MB cards are weeks away......  Roll Eyes

I'm still trying to get consistent performance from CFS3 with my spec's below....

IMHO CFS3's system requirements are a silly joke.

I found CFS3 runs ok on my machine with 1GB of RAM installed, alas, I had to give 512MB back to my #2 machine, until I buy more RAM, CFS3 is un-installed & sitting gathering dust on my shelf.

Hell, I've seen CFS3 stutter on an Athlon 64 with a 6800 Ultra Card & 2GB of System RAM yet equally, a friend of mine plays it happily with a 1.3ghz p3, ti4600 & 384MB RAM go figure that one!

Paul.

Wink I found a tip on another site might work. Go to your cfs3 root folder, then click default folder, there are 2 files inside.  right click left hand folder (cfs3.mxl) and open with notepad.  look for a line that says MaxFPS "whatever the number".  On mine it was 0  it should be 30. change this number to thirty and try that. I only get a slight stutter ( sometimes) when there is lots of action.  Good luck
