Monitor Testing (Read 115 times)

I think that my poor old 17 inch monitor may be on the way out after about 3 years of service - I suspect it has lost brightness and I don't seem to be able to get any more out of the onscreen adjusters.... It was an "el cheapo" in the first place.
However, my question...........
Does anyone know of a Monitor Test program (assuming that such a thing exists at all..........). What I have in mind is something like the diagnostic program that comes with DirectX, or even the built in ones you get with a Printer to assess your results... Something that would show acceptable levels of dark and light/contrast etc. My problem is that I have nothing to compare with.
thanks, bazza.

I understand your monitor was only three years old? Wow! My 21" is about 5-6 years old. But it wasn't cheap.
I've never heard of any software testing for a monitor. Hardware yes, (I'm in the Navy), but not software.
What do computers and air conditioners have in common?
They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

there are adjustable "pots (?)" on the mainboard of the monitor inside it's case - kind of like small reostats, a small screwdriver is used to adjust them.
You might find you can get the contrast and / or brightness higher there, also color intensity etc.
Please beware of electrocution from the large capacitors inside when wielding conductive implements around in there!
