Asus A7V8X-* series mobos are for 'Socket A' CPU's i.e. XP2500-XP3200 bartons etc.

The Asus A7V8X-* motherboard is loaded with the most advanced technologies to deliver maximum performance for Socket A processors. Based on the advanced VIA® KT400 chipset with DDR 400 support

From overclockers site where I buy most of my bits.

I see where they have gone wrong. I bet the CPU is an XP3200+ Barton which is socket A  Grin  Looks like a typo!
