Shut down EVERYTHING, then "Save" your flight.
Next time you fire-up the program everything should be off, waiting for you to go through the "start-up" procedure.

Try that...!

Cheers ...

Paul.

P.S there is a special "gauge" that can be fitted to ensure that the engines are "off" at the start, but unfortunately it has to be fitted to every aircraft in your Hangar.... Cry...!

If you want them off whenever you create a flight then just shut everything down and when you save that flight check the box that says "Make this the default flight". One warning here though. Not all add on aircraft panels have all the switches to start an airplane from a cold cockpit. If you have any of those you may need to start the engine using one airplane and then switch to the one you intend to fly once the engines are running. Also, I've heard that ACOF has trouble if you set the default flight to a non default airport. Make sure the airport you are at when setting a default flight is one of the Microsoft originals.

Hi Matt...!
There's a surprise...!
In FS 2002 the saved flight can be anywhere you choose...even in a field in the middle of nowhere... Grin...!
(I think it probably saves the co-ordinates)... Wink...!

I create a lot of my own private airfields, using Runway 3, and LAGO's FSSE programs, and saving their locations means that I can start from any one of them from the "Load" option... Grin...!

..yet another good reason for using FS 2002...Tee-Hee... Grin...!

Cheers all... Wink...!

Paul.

Hmm - I've never found that. For a long time I had VHHX as my default - no problems.

I've also had Stansted, Liverpool, Prestwick, Edinburgh, Leeds-Bradford, Southend, Humberside all with add-on sceneries (many pre-FS9 that I've updated) without any problems. Also (get this) all of my add-on carriers from my scenery I've never published again without any problems except in SF Bay where there seem to be some endemic unrelated scenery error problems.

So (sorry Paul  Grin ) looks like you can start your default flight in COF wherever you like  Wink

You're not too far from real  Mr Fozzer,I think maybe many of fs9 user would like to go back to fs2002,I remember it was more friendly for ex there was a prgm name FSSC with allow you to even change the land, you where able to make an set an airport in couple minutes, you didn't know what AFCAD problem was,you rarerly had a problem with the add-on i mean all kind of it, i downloaded more than 300 planes and i use to fly in many of them,Now it's more difficult, the only planes that
you realy feel the realistic are the default ones,in the old version most where all good for me,Yes they make a lot of changes i hope microsoft make this realize to hope that the actual add-on works in FS 2006 at least the aircraft..... Smiley

  File Description:
FS Aircraft Shutdown systematically shuts down aircraft systems if they are in use. This is useful if you've created and started a flight with the aircraft "running" but prefer to start with a "cold and dark" cockpit. It's also useful if you don't want to manually execute shutdown procedures after a flight for whatever reason. (cj)

File Description:
A very small file to give you a cold dark cockpit with everything switched off. The virtual cockpit view should also default to 0.64 as this gives the most realistic experience of speed etc.

are you serious? Most of the things you sad is absolutely untrue-especialy about realism of default planes...
How much time do you use FS9?It seems like very little-and you just need to get used to it...

You can save a flight anywhere you choose but back when ACOF first came out some people were having crashes if they set an add on airport as the default airport. Resetting the default airport back to Seattle seemed to stop the crashes. I've never experienced this myself but I was just being careful. Don't want someone to post again saying, "Your advice made my sim crash. Now I've reinstalled ACOF five times and my computer fixer guy says I need a new $400 MB!!!"  Grin

Sorry to read this too late, compare with what,a real simulator?,or aircraft?you can't be so determinate in other's opinion STERK I being using FS since fs 95 i spend enough time in FS9 I'd being involve in this in many ways as meeting real pilots,I made my virtual cockpit, they sat in my computer's chair and flown FS9
what else I'll say in this way again Microsoft FS9 is one of the most realistic game/domestic sim ever done
(its my opinion)if anyone disagre I'LL RESPECT THEM
