I've been into fs2002 for over a year now, and it's about time i try and fly around the world!  Grin I've been trying to plan the whole thing, but without much success. After realising that the b737-200 (my fav a/c) is hopeless for the job  Undecided , i decided to use the 747. Is it the right aircraft or is there a better one? Can somebody give me some useful tips and tricks on how to complete the journey? And how shall i plan the flights?

my email is: cattardbezzina@yahoo.com

I'm also planning to start and end the journey in Malta, my home country 8))

www.idontknowwhattonamemysite.cjb.net ;  is my web site, have a look if u want  Wink

hope to hear from someone soon  Smiley

Well most people use various aircraft in one flight. I.E. use the 747 where necessary and then use maybe the 777 in another place. The Concorde is always good lol. The 747 would definetly be a good plane to use for the journey though, due to it's long range, good flight characteristics, and fast cruise speed.

Pilot for a major US airline certified in the: EMB-120, CRJ, 727, 737, 757, 767, and A-320 and military, T-38, C-130, C-141, and C-5 along with misc. other small airplanes. Any questions, I'm here for you.

Try the Project Mach 2 Concorde at http://www.fsfrance.com/Projets/Mach2/Download.htm its far superior to the FS2k model Wink

What would you like in terms of reference? I can get basically anything after Monday. Leaving this afternoon for a funeral, won't be back 'til LATE tommorow night. Sad

Thanks Ozzy for the concorde web page, it looks fantastic, much better than the crappy fs2000 version. I'm currently downloading it  Grin

By reference notes i mean maximum operating speed, maximum flap speeds, takeoff decision, rotation and takeoff safety speeds, landing approach speeds, etc etc etc... practically the reference notes found in the handbooks of the default aircraft for fs2002.

I've got another question about the 737-200... i hope i'm not bothering you hehehe  Smiley.... Should the flaps be set at 5 or 15 for takeoff?

And when i'm doing an ILS approach, before i'm cleared for landing the atc controller gives me an instruction "maintain 2,300 until established on the localizer". What's the 'localizer'??  ???

thanks again  Grin

afaik the localiser is just the ils track, so it means maintain 2300 until you intercept the ils track then descend according to the ils...

hope that helps.

ps. the 737-200 is also one of my fave a/c to fly. im form ireland and irelands budget airline is ryanair, who operate 15 737-200`s. some of them are logojets, which i have downloaded and installed into my fs2002.

you should try the 'hertz' ryanair 737-200. nice aircraft!

Depends on the runway... less flaps for longer rwys and more for shorter.

Also i dont know where all you are going but might i recamend St Maarten Wink  Though if you have seen my recent screenshot posts im not having very great luck there Roll Eyes  Great scenery for download though.

Ok I will get the info asap and give it to you. Well the checklist says "FLAPS -- SET FOR T/O (5-15)" so basically...use 5 flaps for long runways, 10 flaps for normal runways, or 15 for runways that are short or where traffic is heavy and you need to haul a** outta there. Though I can tell you there is a distinct difference in the flaps settings. The airplane tends to jump off rather fast at 15 knots, so it is a prefered setting. With 15 and full fuel, you can expect to hit V2 more than 10knots lower than at flaps 5.

Thanks a lot for the info guys... and i've got a few more questions  Grin hehehe

In the autopilot panel there are two buttons; the Backcourse hold switch and also the Yaw damper hold switch. what's their function??  ??? And there's also a switch, to switch from Nav to GPS and vice versa. Whats the difference between the two and what do they do?

Oh, and Shamrock, Air Malta has a few boeing 737-200's and also 737-300's, but recently they're changing to Airbus  Cry  lol  And for all those who dont have the Malta International Airport in their scenery list, i recommend it!!!  Wink :

(after all it is one of the longest runways in Europe, so flaps 5 for that hehehe)  Grin

Thanks a lot guys, i'm sure i'll be back with some more problems hehehe  Wink
