Hey there Sim Professionals! I have a challenge for you. I downloaded a freeware panel from flightsim.com. It is a good panel to fly with. Comes with overhead panel which has 80% work abilty. The only problem it has is that after I have completed a scheduled flight, landed, taxiing for a new leg; on take off and applying autopilot, the aircraft doesn't respond or is not being controlled by autopilot. After engaging autopilot, I cannot let go off the stick or else the aircraft will go into a steep dive. The speed control and everything else works but the altitude selector for autopilot will not control the aircraft at all. Also; if anyone can and could re-design the radar screen that comes with the panel, so that it will show not just an indication of aircrafts in the area, but also the aircraft title and cruise speed. Are there any professional with this kind of expertise, please let me know. Thank you.

Most likely sounds like a duff *.gau or *.xml file. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that you are operating it correctly? Have you tried swapping to another auto gauge? Why not post this in the panel / scenery forum.

Might be a little hard to diagnose, even for the PROS, without knowing what panel/gauges your using. As a layman, my thought would be that if if worked on the way in it should work on the way out unless it or something else on the a/c has not been (re)set properly.

Probably not without the permission of the author, as by default it is copyrighted material...
Of course that just my opinion, I could be wrong..(reprinted without permission from the 400# Gorilla)

You can re-do the radar for your personal use, they can't stop that...but you can't widely distribute it (i.e. upload it) without permission. If you would tell us which a/c panel this it it would help.
Pilot for a major US airline certified in the: EMB-120, CRJ, 727, 737, 757, 767, and A-320 and military, T-38, C-130, C-141, and C-5 along with misc. other small airplanes. Any questions, I'm here for you.

Right. It's difficult to suggest anything without knowing which panel this is. The problem could be with the aircraft you're using it with. If the panel was downloaded here at SimV I might check it out for you.
It's possible there's an existing "radar" gauge that will do what you want. There used to be several different types posted on various sites.

OK professionals! Sorry for not letting you know what panel it is. It was downloaded from flightsim.com. You can get it from fs2004 panels which is file 737.402.zip. Let me know what you guys can do. I am very grateful for your response. Thanks.

Coppershot. I'm prepared to check out any file posted at SimV - providing it's a reasonable size. This offer does not cover files posted on other sites. From what you're saying it's quite possible you didn't install this panel correctly. The first thing I would check is that all included gauges are installed properly.

hi,
im kinda new at fs2002, but may i suggest that you check your elevator trim... reason being, i regularly fly the 737-200 with a panel i downloaded from simviation.com and the autopilot is a bit funky!! , if the trim is set wildly off then the autopilot cannot compensate and the plane does a dive like you say.
while landing with full flaps your trim may be heavily biased toward a downward pitch.
hope that helps,
john.
