Hello, I just got FS2004 and I must say that I'm hooked. Especially with all of the freeware and payware thats available.

I've already bought a few military planes, some are very good and some are fair. I was just wondering if there was a list here or a site that has an extensive list of reviews?

If not perhaps we could create a list here of recommended add-ons or essential files?

Thanks!

It really comes down to what kind of flying you like, and where you like to do it?
As for essential files look in http://www.simviation.com/fsdutilities.htm

Right now, I'm more interested in making the game look better. I've looked around and noticed there are several terrain and mesh addons. I just don't know which is better than the other. Location doesn't really matter, I just want to know whats the best at making the game look better.

I'm also interested in the Traffic AI stuff.

Thanks  Smiley

Cool I will definitely have to check those out. I'm primarily interested in the military jets and I don't have any of those. Heck I just bought a lot of them last night on a whim and woke up today wondering wth i was thinking. "I spent how much?!?!?"  Shocked

I intended to check out pretty much everything, from the civilian stuff to the vintage and prop stuff so if there are any recommendations there they are very welcome.  Smiley

If looking for scenery I would recommend USA Extreme Landscapes from Abacus. It is payware ($29 US) and about 2gigs, but it is amazing!! I don't have the top of the line computer but it works great with very little drop in performance I have experianced with other scenery add-ons.
It also covers the entire US, and now has AK and HI included. The fine folks at Abacus sent me the disk with the updated scenery for free!!
Have a look:  http://www.pcaviator.com/shop/viewCategory.php?s=0&c=21

P.S. Calling FS9 a "game" , might offend so people here Grin

For AI, look at www.projectai.com, also check out www.avsim.net, search on 'aiaardvark'.

Other favourites of mine are the Hercules from Mike Stone, and the F-18 Hornets from Dean Reimer; search here on SimV for them.

Hope that helps.

Airport Environment upgrade packs are available everywhere. Just use search engines on the libraries.  USA extreme landscapes is also available at Babbages, Gamespot chain stores if you live near any major malls. Also in the same stores is Lagos wonderfull F-16 Elcectric Jet, MAAM Sim's great B-25 also in the babbages/gamespot stores although you can get it for less directly from MAAM's site, linked on avsim.com.  RFP 747-200 available in stores, works on both fs2002/04.  Also, freeware abounds.  My favorite freeware sites are here of course and avsim.com.  Also, fsfreeware.com has good stuff but try to hit that one early in the morning or late at night. Same with flightsim.com. They both have premium pay memberships with the free servers often getting stretched. Remember, most a/c work in both FS 2002/04, terrain esh is usually cross compatible.  fsuipc is a very important add-on and I recommend spending 20 bucks for the full version as there's a lot of good stuff available for free that can't use the free liscensed version for some functions as some planes have weather radars that need it and so on.  Keep searching and I hope you have broadband or a second phoneline, lol.
