Hey guys. I am having an issue with my wing tip always turning up inside out. I am trying to use the "loft" feature and have followed the gmaxwingtutorial.pdf somewhat religously.

I made the line in the same form like in the pdf file using the end spar's leading edge (6 edges), then made the "wing tip line" or "path" as they call it... And every time I go to loft I get a inside out wing tip object..

Thanks for any help,

Jeff.

Convert to mesh object, polygon sub-object, select the polygons and flip normals?

It sounds like you are using get path instead of get shape. Since I don't know the pdf you mention, can you describe your exact steps when you perform the loft?

The document I refer to is on this site and was by Gerard van Der Harst.

I have my wing object which was extruded and not capped. the leading edge I select 6 edges and create an object from these 6 edges so I can get the same shape of the leading edge to form my wingtip.

Then I create a line from the trailing edge to the leading edge that will be the general line of the wingtip that will be the "spline" my wingtip loft uses

Then I select from the hierarchy panel affect pivot only, and center the pivot until i tis at the leadign edge vertex, then I select the 6 edges object I created from teh leading edge, and click geometry->compound objects loft button, and then I select get shape button, then I select the wingtip spline, and voila I get an inverted partial leading edge around my spline instead of what the document says I am supposed to get.

This is kind of scaring me I think maybe my objects are not orientated correclty and might lead to future probems? I was reading horror stories about things that get messed up because the backface's are all inverted and can be a real bitch to fix on complex objects.

Smiley

Do you see what I mean?? I may need to setup a website with photos of my steps.

Thanks,

Jeff.

Ok, It sounds like what I thought in the previous response is close enough to your problem.

What you need to do is select your path (the wing tip splin) and then use the get shape function. From there either click on the 6-edge shape or better yet pick it from the Select by Name list.

If that doesn't get you going send the wing to me and I'll see what I can find for you.

I found out my problem. I had to create the wingtip line from the leading edge to the trailing edge. Thanks guys for the help and special thanks to fsedge for fixing my design Smiley

Cheers
