Could someone tell what all I would need to do (and how to do it) to a CFS plane to make it work in CFS2.

Hi Tiger. Do you mean an existing 3rd party aircraft? This should be quite straightforward with no conversion required. You might need to realias Panel and/or Sound.cfg for them to display on the CFS2 menu.
The CFS1 defaults are not directly compatible with CFS2. You might like to try the Allied & Axis packs at the top of this page. These have already been converted.

I think you mentioned your PC is a tad low-end. I suggest trying proper CFS2 aircraft where possible. These are generally better quality than the old CFS1 models. All except the early ones will also have proper CFS2 DP files.

I did mean existing Third party. I've got it showing though i'm having trouble the dp (refer to page 2 of my thread in CFS2 Board) Anyways, I was suprised to find that the plane (Japanese Kikka, in CFS1 aircraft section) looked BETTER on CFS2 than 1. Wish I knew how to animate landing gear though. Oh well.

Try patching the MDL file of the Kikka with the MDL Converter tool for the external weapons to display & function. I believe you already have this utility.
I think you're wasting your time using these old CFS1 aircraft in CFS2. If it's not fully animated I suspect this one is actually an old FS5 design. Aircraft specifically designed for CFS2 are far better in every way.
PS. See my reply on your Kikka problem in the CFS2 forum. Keeping track of all these separate topics on different boards is a tad confusing. ???
