??? Big question here, hope someone can help.
Anyone know if you can get helicopters to show up in AI?
I was wondering if I could get one to show up on the landing pad if I assign an unknown parking space to the pad.  Then go into aircraft file and place  “atc_parking_types=Unknown”, if this would work.  I understand that most, if not all, helicopters do not act well in AI.  Just wanted to know if anyone had tried this.  Any help would be appreciated.  Wink Wink

No, afraid that helis are just not rcognised as AI.

But all is not lost  Wink

Here are 2 AI copters that I've got working quite nicely

...

They are on the default Frisco carrier and I've had em doing touch and goes for a while now. I had in mind to make the Frisco carrier into a heli carrier as part of my carrier package. It's a bit small for fixed wing traffic (can land but not really wide enough if you have AI traffic waiting to take off while you're landing).

The helis have to use fixed wing FDE files to be made into AI. You can tweak em (as I have) but whatever you do they will still taxy, have a (shortish) takeoff run and will pitch nose up to climb. But they are still well worth having as AI I think.

Holger Sandman released files for several AI helis (although I haven't used them). I won't be releasing mine for some time if at all because I just don't have the time to complete the work right now.

I had loads of screenies of AI helis but unfortunately I lost the lot the last time my XP crashed a few weeks ago.

Such is life right now ???

Oh yeah, the other rather disconcerting thing is that the AI helis also have the sound of the aircraft whose FDE files are used - Cessna or whatever. I haven't found a way to change that yet!
