there's no freeware FMC available to date (at least not what I know of)
The FMC is a complicated piece of software, so it's not somehting you'd program in a jiffy...hence the lack of freeware FMC's...

esbolico I would tell you to get a payware aircraft with a FMC they are great to learn from if you are planing on becoming a real world pilot..it takes time to understnd them....all you need is a good system and about $40 for the PMDG 737..

Purchase an overpriced add-on package just to use a FMC? You have to be kidding!
There is a FREE FMC available FS2004 from the guys at PR8 Software. Just goto:
http://fmc.scumari.nl/
It works REALLY well, uses the PSS Navdata, and even includes a female copilot to do the readouts.
Customizing the aircraft which it can be used with is a simple operation (if they have accurate .air files), it operates with Peter Dodsons stuff and even has links to FREE FD (a moving map) and a data analysis package.
Try it, its well worth the effort, and hopefully it will send a message to those money hungry sim software designers that locking their products operability is a loosing proposition
Enjoy

That one was released 2 days ago, a mere 3 months after this thread was started.
And that freeware FMC is very generic...the PMDG FMC offers way more options (freeware only offers INIT, RTE, LEGS and PROGRESS, afaik...) . And you also get a very good aircraft model to boot.
But yes, it's great to see a freeware option
