fretnstuff,

How would think that a Gforce FX 5200 would be enough for this game? I'm going to buy a video card to get good performance but I'm not sure which card would be enough to run this game on an AMD XP 3000+ 512 Ram WIndows XP Home and I don't really want to spend a lot of money on a video card.

I have been using a GeForce FX 5200 for awhile now, paid less than $100, have 768mb ram, and it runs great!
I can maintain 27fps easily even with the settings mostly maxed, I have also had my frame rates as high as 32 steady (when I had them locked at 40).
It will depend on the computer I have found, many think the 5200 suck, even ones with a better computer than mine, and many say it is the best. I personally think for the money it is the best.
It is also becoming more known that the amount you spend on a card doesn't mean you'll be getting anything better!!!!! A $80 card can equal a $400 card, plain as that. The real differance is your computer. and that theory I'm a firm beliver in.
I have talked to someone that has the same computer as I (Dell Dimension 4500) everything the same except for the card, they went out and got a GeForce 5700 (?) and it is no where as good as mine just more pricey! Your system is what makes the differance not the cost of the card.
Now as far as other games , Painkiller, my computer and card couldn't handle it, so Farcry I won't even bother spending the money on. But in FS9 works great, low cost so might want to look into it!

Well I have a Compaq Presario S6500NX with these specs:

AMD XP Barton 3000+ @ 2.167 ghz @ 333 FSB
512 Seimiens DDR PC2700 (448 available)
160 GB Hard drive
Realtek AC'97
Integrated Via Unichrome with 64mb of ram that it takes from the system memory. However, the motherboard does have an empty AGP slot.
Windows XP Home Edition + SP1

and this is all I can think of.

I can play other games no problem but when it comes down to FS9 or WWII online I have no luck.

Should I buy the 64mb or 128mb version, and also the 64bit or 128bit?

I really hope the system can handle FS9 with the new card.

Thanks for the info.

I would go for the 128mb, that is what I have.
I would also go for another stick of ram if you have the slot for it.
I don't understand your specs???
512mb of ram with 448 available running Windows XP???
Doesn't make sense because Windows itself uses 200+mb add the 64mb for your video your available ram is probably more around 240 +\- MB.
So I would say the 128MB card and more RAM and you will see a big improvement!
I'm not the best one to ask on this matter, but maybe someone will come along and verify that my reply is correct Wink

The system has a 512mb stick installed. The integrated video card uses 64mb from that 512mb stick leaving 448mb for the system. If I right-click on my computer and go down to properties it says 448mb of ram, yours says 768mb.

Once I install an AGP video card, the integrated v-card is disabled automatically and will give back the memory it was using and the system will have the whole 512mb of ram for system usage.

In my case windows xp uses around 150mb and sometimes less than that, I only have 13 processes running in the background and about 300mb-315mb of available memory.

Does it make sense now?

My main priority right now is the video card. I'll eventually get another stick of 512mb in a month or so.
