NAPOLEON DEFEATED AT WATERLOO:
June 18, 1815

At Waterloo in Belgium, Napoleon Bonaparte suffers defeat at the hands of the Duke of Wellington, bringing an end to the Napoleonic era of European history.

Of course there are those that argue that the Duke's accounts of the battle downplayed the influence of the Prussian army's intervention, and that victory was assured without the Prussians, but nevertheless, it was a victory over French imperialism.

I've always loved the fact that Napoleon's dream was for a tunnel going under the English channel connecting England with France. The best part is that now the tunnel is made Napoleon would find himself stepping off the train at Waterloo station, Trafalgar square London. Grin Grin
