i was flying over the atlantic the other day and i was noticing that high headwinds seemed to increase my groundspeed? how is this? i would think that a strong tailwind would increase groundspeed. i thought it might have something to do with increased lift...could anyone help me out plz?

That is a problem..unless they were negative headwinds....

Headwind DECREASES groundspeed but INCREASES the true airspeed, and that's the end of the story.  Smiley
The range will be reduced with headwind, but the loss can be minimized by increasing the cruise speed...

A good rule of thumb: increase speed by 1 kt for every 20kt headwind, reduce speed by 1kt for every 20kt tailwind. 3-4kts is equal to 1/10 mach (at cruise altitude)

anyway, I'd like to see a screenshot of that if you're able to.  Smiley

Btw check out my the link below my signature banner, it will give you a good idea how it works  Wink

Yes, flying against the wind is headwind.

&&&&That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they kicked the pants off of my P4 3.4!
