Some of the period aircraft at the Duxford D-Day airshow.
There are Spitfires…
And there are SPITFIRES!
Looking splendid in this late war scheme (the stripes are not authentic on this model) is Historic Flying’s MkXVIe
Spitfire Ace. ML407 wearing the markings she wore 60 years ago when she made her mark on History by becoming the first allied fighter to score a victory on D-Day.
A Spitfire made for two.
British thoroughbreds.
Continuing the D-Day theme is TFC’s F4F Wildcat.
Period US troops guard the mighty Jug.
The rather odd looking Miles Messenger.
A line up of L-4 Cubs.

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

No Mustang at Duxford this weekend, now that was unusual. Mind you there are not quite as many around in the UK as there used to be these days.
