don't fool with us!
last year i saw the 747 landing. while it was waiting to start his back track, we could come close i've never been before! the sound of the engines (at idle!) was enormous...man we were close. 8) i'm sure that if i had to 'p', i could reach for the tires!

I won't be going myself. Way too crowded for me. If anyone in the UK is interested I found out that you can purchase tickets from various local shops. These include Jessops Cameras, some Nationwide Building Societies & Waitrose supermakets.
Also some interesting deals for photographers. Check out the Park & View ticket.

i wouldnt say last year was crowded just depends what day you go. If i can i go for sunday as most of the rush will have been on the saturday. But all depends on weather, last year it was a bit clowdy but when i got home i had really bad sunburn so make sure you take sun screen even if its clowdy, TRUST ME!!!!!

buying tickes for the grandstand or other places to make good photos, is useless. with normal tickets you can come really close to the runway and take excellent pictures. you can also change place, close to the threshold, or in the middle to shoot aircraft when they are just airborne. when on the tribune, you are stick to you seat.

I dont know if your aware of this but. We actually have airshows here too. And Most of them are less than $10 . i'm not sure about the exchange rate but I'm thinkin its a dang site less than 50 pounds.

There are air shows & then there are air shows. I believe RIAT is the biggest event of its kind in Europe. The standard ticket price of £29.95 (in advance) & £35 on the gate is a tad expensive but not excessive for an event of this kind. Tickets for the public days at the Farnborough Air Show are £25 this year. Tickets are sold through agencies like most music concerts these days.
My local air show at Shoreham (which I prefer to the bigger events) is about £10. All profits go to the RAFA charity.

Having been to farnborough before its one of those shows you have to be really willing to pay for. Remember its more for companies as its a trade show open to the public. Although a tad expensive i would say Fairfords show is a good deal for what you have got there.
Yeovil charges £15 on the day i believe, although last year it sure wasnt worth it, and i am thankful we bought in advance.

Sadly Farnborough is not what it used to be. I have many very fond memories of the show in the late 50s & early 60s when it was an annual event. Unfortunately no photos.
It no longer interests me & I only go on trade days to keep my brother company now. The display on trade days is very short & disappointing compared with the public days.

Excuse the nostalgia. I just found these. This is the sort of thing we used to see every year at Farnborough.
Vulcan Scramble in 1960. Note the bobby on security duty with nothing more than a truncheon.
A flypast of the 3 V-Bombers. I also saw a Victor loop & sonic booms were the order of the day.
The famous RAF Black Arrows during their 22-Hunter formation loop & barrel-roll at the 1958 show. This is still a world record.
More memories here.
