I've recently installed an FX5700Ultra card which has a 52.16 detonator driver (default). Having mega problems with FS9, freezing up, crashing to desk top, gauges disappear causing black holes! I read somewhere that the driver may be the problem and needs updating. I have downloaded, but not yet installed, a 56.64 driver from nVidia web site which supports this card. I was wondering whether any of you guys out there have had any problems with this card and if not which driver do you have currently installed and where can I get it? Not being expert in these things, the notes on nVidia's web page says that I should uninstall drivers relating to nVidia using the ADD/REMOVE control panel. But I have two entries in the list eg 'Nvidia Display Driver' and 'Nvidia Windows 95/98,ME Display Drivers'. I was originally running a GE Force 2 Pro card. Do I remove both these entries is the question I guess before installing the new driver? I have a programme which backs up my drivers. My system is quite basic:

Windows 98SE
AMD Athlon 2.4
FX5700U 128mb
512mb RAM
60gb HD

Any help would be mucho appreciated to get this frustrated flier back into the air.   ???

Thanks guys.

Hi crocker,

have an FX9500 over here. Had the "original" drivers bundled with the card hardware, and i had problems in FS9, too (for example didn't see the panel of planes). After updating to the latest drivers (about 4 weeks ago), everything is fine now.

Hope that helps.

The 56.72 NVidia drivers are working best with my FX9500XT.  I tried the Beta 61.11 drivers fron Guru 3D but they stuffed Explorer and CFS3 so I rolled them back (I have XP)

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I know this probably sounds a really basic question but I've never played around with drivers previously and I thought it was about time a started! When you back up a driver somewhere on your hard drive how do you actually get it back to where it should be, and where within your windows folder structure would that be, if your new driver doesn't work? Apologies if this seems a novice type of problem but everyone has to learn sometime I guess.

Cheers
