I very well might be in left field with this
But if I understand you the gauges are in a folder within the gauge folder. I have seen this begore A boeing 737 NG does the same thing for fs9 The aircraft cfg file references this subfolder without this reference this might be what is causing fs to crash. I know that fs9 will crash if there is something wrong with the panel or the gauges within a panel. I had this happen to me the problem was a gauge was not named right it was missing a ! symbol I corrected it and it worked fine.
The instructions for the NG tell you not to put the gauges in the gauge folder without the subfolder. This could be the same problem you are having.

I tend to agree Gary. I've suspected all along that not installing the gauges correctly (in the separate X-35 folder within FS9\GAUGES) is the most likely answer. However the people with problems insist they're installing them correctly.

I've tried everything you guys have suggested, still no luck! Shame as I can't stop flying this a/c, its great especially landing on ships! Hope someone can sort this problem out. Great subject lonewolf. Have you done the X-35a/X-35C as well? And have the same panel/gauges for all? could this area be the proplem?

Merlin. The CTD is a different problem. I can think of no reason why the gauges won't display if you follow my instructions. To make sure you did it correctly let me try again using a different method.
Create a new folder in the FS2002\GAUGES folder. Rename the new folder to X-35. Now paste all the CAB & GAU files included with the download into this X-35 folder. There should be 81 gauges in total - 5 x CAB files + 76 GAU files.
This is how mine looks. I obviously can't show all the gauges.
The other folders in the GAUGES folder (cubtest, Fordspeedo etc.) are gauges for other aircraft.

OK. Either you miscounted or you must have missed one. Try installing them again. The important thing is that they're installed in the correct location. If not they cannot possibly display.

Here's the X-35 folder in the downloaded file showing all the gauges. Note the "81 objects" displayed in the bottom left corner.
Maybe I have a later version. You could try downloading/installing the complete thing again.

Hi Hagar, re-counted,all there I can't count! still crashed! Downloaded x35 from this site, re-fitted to game and yes it crashed again! It only crashes when I place file 'X-35' in 2002/gauges, otherwise all is well except no gauges on the panel! (VR panels the same). Its not the game as I had the X35 last week and had to re-do fs2002 yesterday and it still crashes with that file in gauges! Just does'nt like that file

Hi Merlin. This at least confirms the conflict is with at least one of the gauges & your system. One thing I forgot. I'm using WinMe. It would be interesting to know which OS you & the others with problems are using. It's possibly a conflict with one or more of those gauges & WinXP.

Sorry. It's not often I'm beaten but I'm fresh out of ideas this time. All I can say is that it works just fine for me. I can only think there's a conflict with some systems & not others for reasons unknown. I think you'll just have to forget it. Pity as it's a really nice job & obviously involved a lot of work.

To answer Merlin101's question, If you have downloaded the Pt2 files, you will have seen that the manual was writen for all three varients. So yes we (Claudio Mussner & I) have the A & C variants too and yes they use common gauges but also a couple of specific gauges that aren't included with the X-35B (as they aren't used by the X-35B) so they each have thier own panels.
I hazzard a guess that your next question is, when will they be released? Well the plan was after a few weeks but given the situation with the X-35B, I might delay or even pospone the upload if a solution to this problem cannot be found.
Hagar. The jet nozzle animation is tied to the second leading edge flaps. Could you have missed the entry in the CFG file (expecting to see only one set of leading edge flaps)?
Thanks to everyone who has got involved with this, it is much appreciated.

Hi Lonewolf. I believe you said that you have the same conflict on one of your own PCs. The easiest & quickest way to track this down is for you to do it yourself. We seem to have narrowed the CTD problem down to one or more gauges. The only way to find them is by a process of elimination. There are a lot of gauges but I can see no other way. You could start by removing the 5 CAB files to see if that fixed it.

I'll check but I'm sure I changed the value of all flap type= entries to 0. Is this correct?
I should point out that this tweak is for FS9 & not necessary in FS2002.
