Most likley that you haven't put the Gauge files (normally *.gau or *.xml) into your Fs2002/gauges folder, or the designer didn'tinclude them. Check your read me.

Thanks Lonewolf. From what you're saying I assume this is your work. In that case I understand you have to paste the complete gauges folder into FS2002\Gauges - not the individual gauges in the usual way. This method is quite a good idea - providing it's made clear in the installation instructions & that users read & follow those instructions.

Now I know which file this is I can download it & check it out myself. I'll report back later.

OK. I finally have the file & checked it out in FS2002 Pro. All I can say is that it works fine for me. Theres no reason that I can see that it wouldn't work just as well in the Standard version. I must also say that I'm impressed. Well done Lonewolf.

However, I think the problems people are reporting are caused by the unconventional method of configuring the files. You have no need to take any notice of my suggestions but if I was doing this it would be somewhat differently. I hope you don't mind a few tips for future reference.

First, I see no benefit to including zipfiles within zipfiles. This doesn't make the file size smaller but quite often the reverse. I dislike instructions to extract zipfiles direct to the sim & advise people to ignore them. I prefer to install files manually so I know exactly what's going where if I run into problems. This is how I installed the JSF to my own system.

On extracting X35B_Pt1.zip to my FS Downloads folder I found 4 extra zipfiles named AIRCRAFT.zip, EFFECTS.zip, GAUGES-B.zip & SOUND.zip. On extracting these to the X35B_Pt1 folder this is what we have.



Installing the aircraft itself is straightforward. Paste the X-35B folder into FS2002\Aircraft.
Paste the files from the EFFECTS folder into FS2002\Effects & all files from the SOUND folder into FS2002\SOUND.
Installing the gauges seems to be the awkward part & this took me a while to figure out. Open the GAUGES subfolder within the GAUGES-B folder & paste the complete X-35 folder into FS2002\GAUGES.

I hope this is some help. Please try it & tell me if it works for you. I'm sure you'll find it worth the effort.

Sorry guys. I have no idea why you should be having problems. As it works fine for me I can only assume that providing you installed it correctly there is some sort of conflict with your system or video card. This happened once with one of my own aircraft. It was a very simple design with basic 8 bit BMP textures but some of my beta testers had similar problems with CFS2 crashing to desktop. We never resolved the problem which is the reason I didn't post it.

I don't like unexplained bugs & would like to resolve this one if only to satisfy my own curiosity. If you want to persevere with the JSF make sure you installed it correctly.

The 13 WAV files from the SOUND folder to FS2002\SOUND.

If you already did that try aliasing the panel to another aircraft. This will take the panel & gauges out of the equation. Do the same with the sound if that makes no difference. By a logical process of elimination this would leave us with the 3D model itself.

PS. Lonewolf. We posted together & I answered before seeing your comments. From what you're saying the conflict might be with the new gauges. I had a CTD on trying it in FS9. This was caused by X35_gps2.gau. It works fine after removing this gauge. I suggest this might be the best place to look.

PPS. I tried the CFG tweak you posted for FS9 but the jet exhaust animation still doesn't seem to work properly. This works fine in FS2002.
