I have a number of missions with the wingman"s / group's/ flight's planes all appear on the runway hovering.  NO UNDERCARRIAGE/WHEELS. they take off okay and also those that come back ,if they do not fly into the ground,  hover over the runway after landing. Very unreal. Any help would be appriciated

That's old FSDS1.+ designs utilizing old FS98 format.
nothing you can do to fix the undercarriage.

would they have undergear if they were AI's? quite a few missions appear that way, even the recent ones, the fox four ones P**S me off for the same reason, do a good mission, make a good landing & your hit up the ASS by a wingman  Cry

Have you ever noticed the wild gyrations in the sky by some planes after you've shot them down? see it in CFS too, not in every mission just the odd one, think one of the fox four ones has it ,cant remember which one tho'

As Mathias points out, the gear animation does not function on older FSDS1 aircraft when used in AI. The Fox Four aircraft were all created with FSDS2 & all animations function in AI. If you let the wingmen land first they won't hit you up the ass. Wink

If you can remember which Fox Four aircraft does this I'll get it checked out. We take great care to get this right & to my knowledge nobody has reported this problem before. If it's not reported we can't fix it.

Hi Hagar, not a complaint just an observation, think its a MIG ,after you've took it out it does'nt crash & zooms allover the sky with only one wing! i've left the combat zone & it's still been whooping it up ! and i've seen similar in other missions & on CFS1 wonder if it's a Microsoft funny someones programed in ? Does'nt affect the missions in any way, Fox four is one of the best. Anybody else seen anything odd  in other missions/campaigns?

Thanks Happ. It's been a while since I've been actively involved in the development side. I think the bug you mention is something to do with the flight dynamics. An aircraft that performs realistically when you fly it does not necessarily do so in the hands of an AI pilot. Our aircraft were all carefully developed to perform correctly both as flyable & AI aircraft. The campaigns & aircraft were extensively tested by us & trusted beta testers over a period of several months. Nobody reported this problem with the MiG 15 but we obviously can't test for every situation.

thanks for all of the info. i do not have problems with wingmen/groups flying into me on landing . rather the AI fly into the ground while approaching the airfield. perhaps the runway landing and take off zones need to be redefined in the airfiels file????

This will depend on the missions & the experience of those creating them. I'm no mission builder & can only speak for the Fox Four campaigns. You must appreciate that CFS2 was not designed to cope with jets & the extra speeds involved. It took many months of experimenting before we were able to create a playable campaign. Not everyone has the experience or is prepared to take so much time & trouble. You shouldn't expect perfection from all freeware campaigns. Whether it's freeware or payware we are all still learning. There are issues with some airbases and their corresponding airbases.dat entries inside the info folder.
Some addon airfields use wrong altitude information, thus do the AI wingies crash into the ground (that affects also my CFS1-to-2 runways, LOL)
Reason, when you measure the heigth of the runway using the slew mode key it will display the aircraft's center altitude, not the ground altitude.
Thus you'd have to substract some feet to get the correct ground level.
Hope this makes sense.

Hagar thanks for the info. My problem was not with the fox four campaign or jets. i do appreciate that not everyone has the experience or is prepared to take the time and trouble to develope a playable campaign. I do not expect PERFECTION! Your are right we are still learning and so am I.

Mathias. your suggestions seem the most plausible and i'll give them a try.

thanks
