I'm new to FS2004, but not new to flight sims. I decided in order to really place my abilities, I had to try a challenging flight.

So as of last night, I'm making Earhart's trip across the Atlantic Ocean. And I decided to post my progress as I go.

Currently, I'm about 4 hours off of the Newfoundland coast. It's 9:45 PM, stormy, and very, very dark. I've already had a radio malfunction (even though I'm not using it),  and I'm really hoping that's all I have to worry about.

Boredom has already set in, and I still have bout 11 hours to go. My goal is Ireland, but just hitting anywhere in Britain would make me VERY happy.

Well, it's now 11:00PM, and it's still very dark, and very boring. But I can't help but think that I have it easy. I brought along some music, and Amelia didn't have that.

I'm still dealing with heavy storms, I guess that's to be expected in the North Atlantic. Unfortunately though, my autopilot has failed, so trying to stay on course in bad weather is much harder.

Judging by my calculations, which probably are wrong, I have about 10  hours before I spot some land. I'm really just looking forward to daylight, because trying to fly level when the clouds are blocking the stars is next to impossible.

I don't think your autopilot failed, When I did this flight I got the same thing, but I switched it to manual and raised some altitude and turned it back on and it was just fine, I think its the jet sream, or someting, that is giving you alot of turbulance, I highly doubt that its your autopilot.

I did the Lindberg a while back, and my knees still aren't right. Just make sure you are in a comfy chair that supports your back properly and that you can take regular pit-stops in "the office". I tried to do the Lindberg in the official style but had excessive coffee and had to nip off to "the office" somewhere over the Atlantic, I wonder if I pee'd the RMS Titanic?

The Vega will cruise at 40000-55000 feet?

I never would have guessed!!

Stormtrooper, if you can tell me what the best cruising altitude for the Vega, I'd be very thankful.

Right now I'm at 11,000 feet and the stupid autopilot still won't work. It's making for a very tedious, and dare I say, realistic, flight.
