Boeing decided to start the production of the new 7E7 Dreamliner...this after a huge order of All Nippon Airways (ANA). they ordered 50 7E7's for the price of 6 000 000 000 USD!!!  Shocked Shocked Shocked the biggest launching order for Boeing in the long history of the aircraft manufacturer.  Wink

while the news about the plane being built is old news, they had authority to offer months ago meaning it was decided back then. This ANA news is new coming this morning? or last night couldnt believe it when i first heard it, its amazing bit of news both for the 7E7 and Boeing. I have been a huge supporter of this plane since it was first mentioned, its going to be an awsome aircraft, that will be unmatched by anything for a long time. Both in terms of economy and uniqness of its cabin. Its got a new cockpit to go with it. Just to add to this, now boeing have solid plans for engines and cockpit, they are thinking of making a new 747 with the 7E7 engines and cockpit with it. The plan is to fit that huge gap left between the A380 and the 777. Its been talked about before but the cost of developing a new engine was too much now the 7E7 is being developed thats not a problem:) from a questionable looking future just 6 months ago. It looks like boeings future could be bright

Don't they need to build and test a prototype before going all out on production? Or have then done that already?
