This is the sort of thing I like to read about...!
An excerpt from an article in the U.S. "Flying" magazine, Feb. 2004*...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------
Travels in Time: re-creating the Nationial Air Tour.

"Imagine a time when radal engines dominated the skies; when townspeople turned out to watch aeroplanes land at a local airfield; when perfection was taking off with a buddy..."

A re-creation of the U.S mail plane service across the U.S flying the original planes...!

"We weren't just commemoration history.
We were re-creating it, in living, real-time colour"

"....But perhaps the most telling moment of the tour.....had been to worry about wether people would want to fly or see old aeroplanes touring around the country---came at one of the very first stops.
As the tour planes were starting up and getting ready to go, a North American P-51 Mustang landed and taxied by.
Nobody...not the tour pilots, not the airport personnel, not the spectators...turned to look."

LOL...!

There you go...!
If you want to excite your spectators, pilots, ground crew, etc, forget about F-16's, P-51 Mustangs, etc, just fire up a radial engined Boeing Stearman Speed Mail, a Ryan W-1 Mailplane, or an old Ford Tri-Motor mail plane, etc...
and watch the tears flow from their eyes...!

...

Cheers all...!

Paul....an avid radial enthusiast...!
