The only way I can think of would be to change the name in the souce file which I beleive is the bgl file.
You Would have to convert it first then recompile after the name change. I think this is the only way to change an airport name. But I could be wrong. They make a bgl dissassembler and a bgl compiler. Make sure it is for fs2004. Some else can probably tell you where to get these programs at

What about using AFCAD?  I know you can change the name within the program, but I'm not sure if the changes will take effect in the fsim itself.

I am not sure about afcad ??? This might work.
If you change the name of any air port do not forget about any AI that might be using the old airport.
I am not sure what might happen if a flight takes off to a non existing airport. You would think ATC would not approve of the flight plan. But who knows crazzier things have happened.
What you you call that  ??? A ticket to no where. 8)

I am not sure (haven't done it) but I think if you change the name of the airport and not the ICAO there will be no problem.
