Hello! I just purchased FS2004. I have loads ofstuff I have for FS2002 and would like to know which of the following are compatible for both!

AFCAD airport files
Repaint textures for AI aircraft
Scenery of airports
Scenery for terrain (not textures but the bgl file which gives you terrain such as mountains)

THanx!

Hi Roberto
Welcome to FS2004, you will enjoy it.
I never had a flight sim before 2004 so maybe am not over qualified to answer your question, however from experience I can tell you that 2002 airport scenery will work in 2004 ( I use some myself).  You can use certain 2002 repainted aircraft in 2004 so I would hesitantly say that answers question 2. Not sure about AFCAD airport files tho AFCAD itself is compatible with 2004 I believe, Im not sire about question 4.
Hope that helps.

Hi Roberto, welcome to FS2004

2004 requires AFCAD 2.21 and AFCAD 1.40(for FS2002) export files will not import properly. See the AFCAD 2.21 (available at Simviations downloads) documentation.

In general later FS2002 a/c (user and AI) created with GMax or FSDS2 will work in 2004. See the Compatibility Guide at Simviation downloads.

Scenery, including Terrain Mesh, should work, although airport scenery may show unexpected results, due to changes in FS2004 default scenery  (and the associated facility data), like slight elevation differences, AI landing on grass or parking in buildings.

In most cases it's just try and see. Smiley

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Roberto, good to see you Wink
Right the AFCAD should be okay.
The scenery should be okay.
The aircraft if they are made with gmax or FSDS2 should be okay (occassionally textures or effects might not show up).
There are loads of new terrain meshes out already for FS9 so I'd think about looking at those rather than trying to port the old ones, as I don't know what manner of disaster they might cause...
