Does anyone nows what going on with the develoment of CFS4. UBI is the process of developing a new Simulator for the Pacific and I have not heard anything from MS. I hope MS listen to us their consummer and be not like the Big Three in the Auto Industry were in the early 80s. They wanted to dictate to Buyers what kind of car one  should buy. While the Japanese where giving us what we wanted at the time. It almost cost them their extintion. If you give us a improve version of CFS2 with improve communation ,Squadron control and a all inclusive MB .  Your competition will hard press. You neen not worry I think you still have loyal following . Do not take us for granted.

Word is CFS4 will be set in the Pacific Theater and will be based upon an improved version of the current CFS3 engine.

If MS want to keep going with the WW2 ims for the CFS series why do they keep repeating the theatres. I think it would be nice to see a change, what is wrong with the Atlantic or Eastern Front, although they may not have been major air theatres at least it would be a change.

Because apparently people like flying most in theatres that were major in WWII. I.e. Europe and the Pacific. I think a Swordfish campaign in the Med would be a fantastic sim, but no...

Whats more, in CFS2 they didn't finish the war. So thats what CFS4 will do.

*What going on with CFS4*

Probably nothing.
If it was due out this year we've had heard rumours regarding E3, but nothing so far,
and that's scary.

*bump*

Ok, E3 is next week and no word on CFS4.
most other developers have already made avaialble info about their up and coming games, but no CFS4 whatsoever.
I'm afraid they pulled the plug on the CFS series.

I doubt M$ have pulled the plug on the CFS series, its too much of a cash cow, but I think they are probably keeping a lid on things to surprise us all after the almighty negative-press that CFS3 got when it was released... I'm sure if anything does come out you'll see it here within mins Wink

Ozzy

Ps. Personally I'd like to see it where you can choose campaigns such as the Eastern Front, or N.Africa... How about Dunkirk missions?

Ozzy, I think it's pretty obvious that CFS4 will not be released this year, if at all.
There are rumours that they have pulled the plug on it like they did on trainsim.
We had definitely heard about it if it was due out this year.
Beside, it probably not M$ policy to surprise us with unexpected titles. Wink

Hmm well I'll wait until I hear something. And with a nose as big as mine you can bet I'll ferret out the info Wink
I think they should look at either doing the campaigns that haven't been covered in previous versions, or look at Korea...
Ah well I guess we just wait Sad

It would be a real shame if the plug has been pulled. I do think M$ are/were on the wrong track with the CFS series and should have stuck to the CFS2/FS9 type engine, but now I have it all set up and running I find CFS3 most enjoyable.
I would love to see North Africa or Korea in the next version.

"I doubt M$ have pulled the plug on the CFS series, its too much of a cash cow"

While CFS3 has sold circles around every other air combat game over the past two years (and continues to believe it or not), it is no cash cow.  Flight sims are a niche market.  I suspect even if the CFS series is cancelled, CFS3 will travel deep into the future with its wide open architecture.

What I posted at the Sim-Outhouse:

If, and it's a pretty big if, CFS is being dropped...I would expect it is being dropped in place of integration.

Imagine late next year when you load up FS2006 and the install options include "Combat Support Modules". I've noticed a growing number of FS players asking for some of the things that CFS offers, and the reverse is also true. Maybe MS noticed and decided to integrate the two and offer one larger, bigger version.

In a combined version:

ATC could become GCI: "Viper Lead, Boston Center. MARSA Acknowledged, Frequency change approved, contact WARLOCK on 101.5, monitor GUARD. Good Day and Good Hunting."

Firebombers could drop real water "ordinance" on simulated fires...with results.

A Coast Guard "Guardian" could fly live intercepts against smugglers off the Keys. The smugglers could then try to evade if they detect the intercept.

Dang, now I'm getting myslef excited about something that probably isn't even happening.
