i have been useing fsds 2 for a couple of months and have textured a few planes within the program and photoshop. One day i started fsds and opened a project that i had been working on the night before and my textures werent there, When i highlighted a part it showed what textures were assigned but in the solid view window everything was white.
What happened? every single project is the same a default white color to everything textured or not.
please help abacus was no use when i called them they said to put the textures in the main folder fsds but that didnt work

thanks

Use the "Find" function on your comp to search out a filename you know is a texture...they're probably all in the same place once you find one.

You may have accidently specified a "Texture" folder and you just need to locate it now. Smiley

Did you merge a part from another folder (such as the infamous tire part) and then save it to the folder?

That happens to me from time to time.  Basically, my working model has been save to a folder that doesn't have the textures.

This seems to be a bug with FSDS itself.

I have this problem all the time working on multiple models all over the show!

In any case, the texture that is apllied in FSDS will be in one of two places: Either it will be in the FS main texture folder, or in the FSDS root folder. The FSDS texture folder seems to reamain unused.

If you compile a model for use in FS when all the textures have "whited out", it will still work in FS.

The way I fix it is to "reapply" just one texture on the model, the FSDS seems to miraculously "find" all the other textures and aplly then in the solid viewport.

I wonder if it's simular to the problem I have. When copying parts, sometimes they don't show, when I reapply a tex or material or a complete reload of the model, the missing parts appear.

What do computers and air conditioners have in common?...
They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

I doubt it. Your problem is more likely to be polygons with the normals facing the wrong way.

Sometimes when you copy, paste then flip a part the polygons also get filpped. Make sure before you copy the part, that you go to polygon mode and select all the polygons in the part, then switch back to part mode and copy/paste/flip. This should solve your problem.

Wayne - I understand that an uninstall and reinstall of FSDS fixed the problem.

The dll fix posted by Martin Wright was basically to fix a problem when using the compressed DXT3 textures within FSDS.
