Hi everyone,
I've had FS2002 for awhile now, but just got around to installing it last week. I'm slowly getting the hang of things, and have actually landed completely on a runway twice now.
Anyways, I've got a couple of questions.
1. Is there some way to change the default settings for 'Create A Flight'? I don't fly a Cessna and I don't like Meigs. I'd really like it if I could set it for a different plane and location when it opens.
2. Has anyone made a Terrain Avoidance add-on for the autopilot? Low-level flight (500') is fun, until you smack into a 600' high hill.
3. I downloaded the B-52 AI program that adds AI BUFFS & KC-135's to Barksdale and Minot AFB's. (along with Kotaro Akikawa's B-52H) Now, the AI instructions say to copy certain things into the 'airport text file' and other things into the 'aircraft text file'. Well, I've checked the entire FS2002 program, and I'll be darned if those text files exist. Can anyone give me the "B-52 AI Installation For Dummies" version of installing this? I'm at a total loss here.
Well, I'm sure I'll have more questions, but that's it for now. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out with this.
Take care.

Hi there. Happy flying!
1. Yes. You can create a flight as you would like. You can even set this created flight as the default flight, this will replace the Cessna/Migs flight. In the "create flight" window just enter your parameters such as departure airport, destination airport, the type of aircraft you want to fly. Then simply save it and check the little box labled "set as default flight". It will load that created flight everytime in place of the Cessna/Migs field flight.
2. Not that I am aware of. But of course if your flying low level, you want to do that on a clear day to where you can see clearly outside the airplane to avoid those pesky 600ft high hills. ATC isnt very good at determining ASL or MSL levels anywhere in the entire sim. So its a good idea to keep an eye out for obstacles. Reminds me of the cartoon jingle "Watch out for that....(boom)..TREE!"
3. The files you are looking for are in fact text files, but have the file extension of .cfg. Do a "file find" for "aircraft.cfg" and "airport.cfg", the files will come up and you can add what you need in a regular text editor like notpad.
Hope this helps.
ps...watch out for that tree...err hill!

Well, sort of . . .
First off, you need to get Traffic Tools (by Lee Swordy), which is a program that takes apart a file in your FS that controls all the AI in there.
You can get that here:
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_ess1.htm
If the current interface doesn't suit you, there are several others out there, as well as a document source that explains in detail how to utilize the actual text documents themselves. Just do some sort of search for the Traffic Tools by Lee Swordy Instructions, or somesuch.
THEN there will be the files necessary to modify with the downloaded flight plans.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info! I downloaded Traffic Tools and AI Traffic Mover. I also read a couple of tutorials. I did everything I was supposed to do, but still no AI B-52s. I set the take-off time for 1700 GMT, and after I ran FS2K2, the time was changed to 0100GMT. I finally got tired of playing that game, so I sped the gamerate up and sat at Philadelphia Int for 24 hours. No B-52s. There were SUPPOSED to be 8 of them running between Philly and JFK. I flew over to JFK, and sat for another 24 hours, still no AI B-52s. I'm at a total loss, and getting kind of annoyed with it all.

Reply #1: Yep, Flight Plan sets the AI level at 1%, FS settings are set to 100% AI traffic.
Reply #2: Not JUST a girl, but a girl who can fly rings around alot of guys in a B-52 or an F-16. I just can't add AI traffic or land. Actually, I can land just fine, but so far only 3 times was actually on a runway.

Now I am really impressed !!
Anyway, are you sure there is only one *traffic.bgl file in your FS2002\Scenedb\scenery directory? I hope the directory is right (anyone correct me if I am wrong as I am not at my PC now). If you have not renamed (or removed) your original traffic.bgl file it is the old one that is picked by FS2002 although I don't know why. If this is the case it is suggested to change its extension (of the original) to something else (I change it to .bbb). Then exit and start FS again.

Hi.
I did a file search in the entire FS2002 directory, just 1 copy of flights.bgl. Oh well, it was a good suggestion.
I'll keep trying what I can, if I still don't get my AI traffic to show up, then I'm going to uninstall FS2K2, do a cleaning/defrag, reinstall and try again.
Please keep the ideas coming guys. Something's gotta work!

Hi everyone,
Here's an update on the missing AI flights: I downloaded and installed AI Flight Creator, which is supposed to run with TTools, which I also have. I set up AI FC, and when I ran it I got a "Filtering Errors: Checking ackup file date Error 53 file not found".
I don't have clue if the missing file is part of AI FC, TTools, FS2K2 or a part of the AI flights. But I'm getting pretty annoyed with FS2K2 not showing any AI flights that I add.

I was just beginning to wonder if there was such a thing as a female in a cockpit.
Even more so on a simulator.
I think a poll would show most of us r males.
My sisters and my Mum just can't understand whats up with me, - I think just the same of them!
Welcome Sue and enjoy the site. 8)

Ben

You should have seen it at my old college Professional Piloting program. 3 girls and 38 guys, needless to say we all competed over them pretty stingently.
