FS9  :  Fails to run ... (Read 303 times)

Any help with this one ?

Have borrowed FS9 to see how it will run on my rapidly becoming out of date gear before I spend my hard earned bucks.    So far things are not good...

I have loaded it twice, with no problems in the loading process.    I know the discs are OK because I loaded it onto a friends machine and it works perfectly for him.

Having completed all the loading drama, the front page showing the DC3 comes up, and that's as far as it goes.
From there sundry little dramas happen and I have to Ctrl/Alt/Del to retrace.     Exactly the same thing happened on both attempts to load.    I could go back thru the posts but only have the discs for a limited amount of time.    Anyone seen this problem before ?

When I say my system is old, it should run this (at least poorly) with AMD Athlon 1700 and 512 Ram.     Works perfectly with FS2002.

Hmmmm.....when FS9 brings up that DC-3 screen, go to your task manager. If it says that CPU Usage is at 100% then you have to delete your FS9.cfg. See if it works.....

Checked that - CPU useage is negligible - 0 to 3 %.

have you upgraded your graphics adapters drivers to be DirectX.9.x compatible?

Cheers,

You cracked it Dave, worked first time after I downloaded DX9 etc.   I've only had a very quick fiddle with FS9 but like what I see  ..

Might have to adjust my budget and get my own copy.

Your help was greatly appreciated - no wonder I've hung around this forum for so long.
