I just ran into a problem, and has probably been posted before.
I installed a repaint for my default DC3 and it won't show up in my "select aircraft" section.
I looked in my DC3 folder and it shows the textures for 5 variations, looked in the CFG file and it shows five variations (each with a matching texture folder) but when I go to select aircraft I only get two?
I tried the trial of FS Repaint and was repainting a DC3, it was after that that I had noticed my variations in FS9 not working, and when I add a new one it doesn't show up.
What am I missing here?

It has to be precise. You need to be sure the name of the repaint matchs the name in the aircraft.cfg

Also i've noticed not all incuded pieces of cfg text that come with a repaint are correct. Sometimes you need to correct a tittle or a line in the text to make it work.

I still struggle with it sometimes, so perhaps someone should point out the important lines in the aircraft.cfg for installing repaints.

Unless thats already done, then i am looking like a fool for not knowing...  Grin

After reading your post Omag I went back to look at my aircraft.cfg, and this is what I noticed:

I have 4 different textures for the default DC3. In the cfg. it had listed [fltsim.0] through [fltsim.4] but I noticed there wasn't a [fltsim.2] ? So I changed the newer repaint too [flt.sim.2] and now all my variations show up!  ???
How and why this happened I do not know!
Like I said I tried out the FS Repaint trial and when you start it up it takes all your aircraft and list them inside the program, is it possible that this program removed something? Like [flt.sim.2]?  I guess I should go and check all my other default planes and see if they work correctly!

What do you know! I actually helped someone!  Grin

Glad you have all your repaints now.

Don't know about the FS repaint program though. Seems bizar it would change the structure of the FS9 program in the way you think. But hey, in ICT-world almost anything is possible. Expect the unexpected.

That is the most common problem when it comes to repaints. I have also even seen it in new designs. The other problem I have seen is upper case vs lower case letters in the name of the texture. They have to be the same so b727txt is not the same as B727txt.

That is one of the first things I had noticed so that was the first thing I looked for.
As for whether or not FSRepaint did it I don't know, all my other defaults seem to be fine. The reason I mentioned it is because when you first run it it scans your aircraft folder and loads all of you planes. The DC3 was what I was repainting.
Since it was a trial version I could play around repainting but couldn't save my work. So I'm wondering if this might have had something to do with it? Because in my DC3 folder the "repaint" is there I just can't apply it to the plane in the sim.
In fewer words, because I don't know exactly what happened I don't want to sound like I'm blaming FSRepaint, and giving the program itself a bad review!! Chances are it was user error!! Wink
