??? Howdy all,got a question. I want to create a wake for a carrier scenery I've built for cfs2.I've tried using a polygon with wake texture (Airport 2.60), came out crummy.I used EOD to make an api with texture, same result.I am totally inept when it comes to painting so i need to 'borrow" texture but what ever i try comes out pixelated ( yes, already made a image set with bmp2000,still stinks) so anyone out there have an answer on how to put a nice wake on a  carrier?or a place to go for a tute? Thanks for your time  Roll Eyes

mag_ddave,

Have you tried using the wake texture from CFS 2 (wake2.bmp)?

I think CFS 2 also accepts 512x512 bitmaps, so if you enlarge the texture and then use PSP for instance to blur it a little, maybe it won't look so pixelated ???

Shocked Yep, tried that.Kina funny funny because EOD says it's an invaild bitmap( maybe for EOD) I used the one named WAKE.bmp too. but they all look kind of funky.I guess I'm gonna have to learn how to use  PSP instead of ms paint lol. Oh by the way,I read those posts about PacTex and Masked Rider. I'm going to dl that stuff.I've been designing for cfs1 for a long time but I'm a real nube to cfs2 design.Doing my first one.Actually 3 sceneries combined and rather hefty at around 5.5Mb It's a training base for the Joint Operations Virtual Flight School. Here's the a screen shot of the "drill field " for the cadets.

Have you tried Pixia?

It also comes with a blurring tool Smiley

Shocked Thats one of the first things i found out about was the frame rate issue.I have a tendency to overbuild and i had to remove a lot of scenery objects to keep the frame rates half decent. The worst are sitting on the runway and pointing  closely grouped objects. At the main base fps are low 20's till you get moving then jumps up to low 30's then once I'm airborn then I run anywhere from 40 to 60. I had my most difficulty with the mountain "farm" airstrip. The elevated mesh combined with close clusters of objects is murder on the fps rate. Now i know why stock scenery is sooo spread out. Here's a couple of screen shots....

One shot is the instructor hangers, control  tower , moving radar and 3.5 degree glide slope landing bars which i made with EOD. They're 100 x200 feet so you can fly a bomber thru them. All objects are crash detect enabled.Main runway has full IFR/ILS equipment and  frequencies including VASI.

The second shot is on the opposite end of San Cristobal island where the main base is.This shot is the mountain "farm" airstrip .There are racing gates through a canyon and the take off and approach from h-ll over very tall mountains. great bush flying .Loads of fun.I also have US and Japanses ships, a gunnery range and landable carrier, emergency strip, cows, horses, deer in the mountains and on and on LOL.

mag_ddave,

Awesome screenshots Grin

I'm not sure it this will increase the fps by a lot, but try putting all the texture for a macro on the same bitmap, that way the game doesn't have to read a few bitmaps to texture one macro.
