Here's mine. Only one in the world. If I had this, I would never go home; I would turn the back into living quarters like a moterhome. I'd go tour the US south and Europe. Post your fave picks (Float helos work too).

I've always had a soft spot for the good old Supermarine Walrus.
A real unsung hero that saved many sailors and airmen.
My second favorite is the Shorts Sunderland.

Although the Walrus is somewhat cuddly I'm going to have to go with the Sunderland.

Catalina/Canso is a nice plane...but I'd rather have a CL-415 (for patriotic reasons) or a Grumman Albatross (in RCAF colours).

I saw a magazine a few years back that had a really nice Grumman Albatros. It had two jet skis that were lowered from the engine nacelles to the water. Beautiful airplane. 8)
During WWII they tried floats on a C-47. Is this the same plane or a more recent modification?

Not now. Ivan will correct me but I'm sure the Antonov An-225 is currently regarded as the world's largest aircraft. I believe there have been others in between. It depends what you base it on. Wing span, length, height of the vertical tail surfaces or overall size. Some aircraft might have less wing span but be much longer & vice versa.
If some reports are to be believed, Howard Hughes was so shaken by the experience of "flying" the Spruce Goose that he never attempted it again & wouldn't allow anyone else near it. They say the only reason he attempted it on that particular day was to avoid the consequences of the Congress hearing he was involved with at the time, accused of cheating the US Government & the taxpayer out of millions of dollars. By doing that short hop he had proven his critics wrong, the aircraft had actually flown & proceedings against him were dropped.

AHA!!!
Given the date of the photo, the helo taking pics of the Hercules
can't
be a Chickasaw...it hasn't flown yet.
I think it's a Bell 47B...thoughts?

The shape is all wrong for a Bell 47. It also had an open famework & the covered in version was not developed until much later. I know very little about helos but my first thought was that it's a Sikorsky S-51. I'm sticking with that.
PS. Oops I just checked out the Bell 47B. I told you I don't know much about helos.

I gotta hand it to you CRJ, that is a good pick. I can't wait for my seniority to come up in the CAP rankings so they will teach me to fly the beaver we've got on wheels.

I personally like the Catalina.
Has anyone made up theyre mind as wether too make a Spit. Floatplane for FS9 yet?
Lastly, I think there was more than one C-47 floatplane.
(Check Janes for info)
