Hi all;    Need help with a flashing curser and panel labels. I installed FS9 a few days ago, and really have been enjoying it. There is two things that are very distracting when flying that I didn't have in FS2k2. The mouse curser flashes constantly when ever I move the mouse, and the panel labels display strangely ie "Fuel GaFueFueFue". The curser disappears like it should if the mouse isn't moved, however it reappears randomly as I am flying. Very distracting when I'm on final and it pops up right in front of me.

The second thing is vertical lines in the clouds. They look like to flat edges of clouds not meshed togeather quite right. However its not in all the clouds.

Spec's are:
AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 1.8 GHz
Ram = 1.0 GHz
Vidio = S3 Graphics Pro SavageDDR

Please can anyone help?

Steve

Maybe it's your video card. I don't really trust savages too much. And did you check your detail levels?

Divebomber:  I'm not sure what you mean by details. It has 32mb on board, and I've just downloaded another set of drivers. This didn't help with the curser, however I didn't notice the line in the clouds. Wasn't flying very high eather. will check for them and get back to you.

Thanks for the quick reply.

There is a welth of info on this fourm and I've learned a lot in the past month of flying.

Thanks again: Steve

Divebomber:  The lines in the clouds are still there. They appear as you get close to a cloud bank, just as you are about to fly through them.

If you want to see the best then i recomend buy the best.when it comes to video cards nvidia and ati.are the only names to trust.over the years i have used both those brands with no problems.and with fs9 you need at the least a 128mb on board video card with a AGP slot.for best results.do that system justis and get a better card.youll be glad you did.

EA-KATL:  Thanks. I've been thinking about upgrading my vidio card. However wasn't sure it was the problem, as I don't have this problem with FS2k2.

EA_KATL;  What do you think of the nvidia e-geforce fx 5200 vidio card, with 128mb and agp?

I started out fs9 with a geforce 5200fx and for the price its not a bad card.you probley wont be able to run settings way up.but you sould be able to have them set where you can be happy with it.i was happy with it till i got the money to get a better one.but you will see a big improvement from what you have now.but if thats where your going then get the nvidia name brand and not the PNY version.

Well then, a new vidio card it is. However I think I might hold off a bit till I can afford the more powerful one, I think it was the 9200. No since in going half way Wink. Thanks.

stevewilson.the nvidia 5200fx is better than the ATI 9200.if you going that route get the ATI 9600xt if you really want a big improvement.

EA_KATL. I'll keep the 9600xt in mind. I'm a little red in the faceto admite it but cast is a big factor Embarrassed, Thanks for the good advice.

FS_BEN. No I'm using the standard M$ curser.

EA_KATL, on the 9600's, whats the differance between the one that is discribe as "DDR" and the one that is not. That is besides the differance in price.

DDR ram is much better and faster than SDR typ.the 9600xt model is better than the 9600 pro.just as the 9800xt is better than the 9800 pro.the 9800xt is the best video card there is from what i have read.i hope the price will drop on it soon so i can get one of those.it has 256 DDR onboard ram.where the 9600xt has only 128 DDR.theres some on the fourm that knows more on video cards than i do may be one of them will drop by and go into more details in the diffrence besides the ram.but for those on a budget like me you cant go wrong with a ge force 5200fx 128 DDR it is the best lowest priced card there is at the moment.around $60.you might even find one less than that if you shop around.

check this post out theres a video card chart scroll down to it and you can see the performance grid.

why not try an fx5700. these cards kick a fair bit of grunt and are possibly the best value card i have come across. if you realy want to be outragous on the price get yerself a 9800 xt or fx5950 ultra. the 9800 xt is a little better but more pricier
