Whoever wrote the Mustang Manual had a sense of humor...
Quote:
44. Spinning
(i.) Spinning is not permitted when drop tanks or fuel in the fuselage tanks are carried.
I'll try to remember that.
Quote:
The stall speed is preceded by a slight juddering
What the heck is juddering?
Quote:
(iii.) The aircraft sinks rapidly as stall speed approaches
Do you think?
There is a whole bunch in there about that much bemoaned fuselage tank. In fact, it's referred to in almost every section for one reason or another. If I were a Mustang pilot, I would drain that tank first...

62. Ditching
(i.) It is strongly recommended that pilots should avoid ditching and should bail out whenever possible. Even when flying at low cruising speed at sea level, if the pilot takes immediate action, a height of about 800 feet can be quickly reached, thus allowing the pilot to bail out.
(ii.) Should however, ditching be unavoidable, wing drop tanks or bombs should be jettisoned; speed must be reduced as much as possible, and flaps should be lowered 30°. Ditch along the top of the swell, dipping the wingtip on the windward side in order that this should stike the water first.
This will result in a heavy swerve, but will reduce the tendency to dive. This manuever calls for a very accurate judge of height.

All aircraft have their own stall characteristics. Some will give a little judder before stalling. The P-51 sinks rapidly as well. Others will stall without any warning at all. If they drop a wing at the same time you could easily end up in a spin before you know it.

While not strictly "real aviation" in Aces High, we are highly recommended to make sure that fuselage tank is drained first, or to take 75% fuel (fuselage tank empty), with drop tanks for climbing to height.
When maneouvering in a P-51D model in Aces High, yes there is a significant difference.
Every once in a while an online game gets it "accurate"

If you were a pilot you would know what a judder is.

Pip to experience judder try the following, open your washing machine and remove the concrete ballast, then put it back together again. Put it on spin cycle and sit on top of it!!! THAT is judder
Well it feels like it anyways
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

If my aircraft juddered anything like that I would hit the silk. LOL
PS. This is about the only time I would consider baling out of an aircraft that was still in one piece.
