i have try to take the 2d gauges then put it in the vcockpit (in panel cfg) but nothing sho ???

and you can explaine to me why vc cockpit have 4 chift insted or 2d gauges only 3 serie of shift  Roll Eyes

Woody,

After building the 3D VC objects, you must set up a  way for flight sim to "project the background and gauges".  Once you have that, then building the panel and gauge textures are similar to 2D and are specified in the panel.cfg the same way.

But first, you must construct the "planars".

This may help get you started:

http://www.flightsimonline.com/tutorials/VCTextures.htm

You should also read Bill Leamings tutorial that can be found at FFDS Tutorials.

FS needs to know where the panel background image and gauges need to be placed/projected.

You tell it where by building a simple planar the shape of your panel(s).  Position that planar a very small distance in front of your panel object.

Map the planar with a square map.

Apply any dummy texture to it with a $name.

Now export it.

In the panel.cfg, set up the vcockpit section like my example in the above link.

In the filename= parameter, name your 8-bit panel bitmap you put gauges on.

List your gauges and go test.

Example:
{Vcockpit01}
file=vcmainl1024.bmp <<--- the real panel background bitmap
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1024,1024
visible=0
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$vc03  <<<----- dummy texture applied in gmax

gauge00=ST_HW5!VSI_6,  626,236,110,110
gauge01=ST_HW5!Airspeed,  323,103,116,116

In the vcockpit section, you need another parameter for the day time texture. (unless you applied it in gmax)

file=vcbackground.bmp

This would be the background bitmap texture that you want displayed on the VC panel.  It should be 8-bit and square and power of 2.  This texture must be in the panel folder.

To light up the night vc panel, you need a texture named the same as the day texture except end name with _L.  (Like vcbackground_L.bmp)  In Gmax, you must assign this self illumination map to the $dummy texture for the planar.

This texture can be created by copying the day texture.   Now darken the texture  alot, where the gauge holes are, replace with light shades of gray or off-white.    Invert the texture so it is upside down, then add a black (0,0,0,) alpha to it and save as a DXT3 in the texture folder.

See the example from this link. Smiley

And, revisit the link I posted above.

Do you have one in the 2D panel? ... or the Day VC?

If not create one.  It can be any simple texture to put your gauges over.

In the vcockpit section, you need another parameter for the day time texture. (unless you applied it in gmax)

file=vcbackground.bmp or whatever name you choose.

This would be the background bitmap texture that you want displayed on the VC panel.  It should be 8-bit and square and power of 2.  This texture must be in the panel folder.

The $bmp is a dummy textuure.  It does not show.  It is intended to tell FS where the planar is.

If you want nite gauge lighting then you must create the background texture and save it in the panel folder, then use a File= parameter.  It is this filename that the *_l.bmp is associated with.

If you do not want a texture, just use a black or gray one to match whatever color you want.  Square, power of 2, 8-bit.  Put its name in the File= parameter.

Then name the  *_l.bmp the same.
