In several missions using standard CFS RAF and USAAF campaigns, as soon as I warp to next action the engine shuts down and refuses to restart. Is it another XP thing? Sorry if itīs been covered before and I havenīt spotted it.

It's possible you ran out of fuel. To confirm this change the Realism settings to Unlimited Fuel & try the same missions.

Thanks for the suggestion. Iīve tried it, but it doesnīt make any difference.  I watched the fuel gauge when I wasnīt using unlimited, too, and it did drop, but nowhere near empty.

I will assume that you warp and arrive at say, 5-10000ft altitude. Your problem is probably that your mixture needs changing. I have posted this before, so you may now it anyway. Shift + 2 for the throttle quadrant, and then drag the red Mixture lever backwards SLOWLY. Your engine should restart, but will flag / die on the way down. Hope I have helped, Dan Garner   Grin

Grin Try going to "settings" and check the "automix" box. That will automatically adjust air/fuel mix at any altitude any time. 8)

Thanks. Using the mixture seems to work - Iīll try the automix and see which I prefer. I can see itīs not as realistic, but then to be properly realistic I suppose I would be adjusting prop pitch as well.

Realism is all very well. It would depend if the aircraft has a constant-speed prop. Most WWII aircraft did. I could be wrong but believe they might have some kind of auto-mixture control too. This was to make it easier for the pilot to fly in combat which is surely the whole point. Wink

Well, thatīs interesting. I set it to automix (it doesnīt affect the "realism" by the way - still shows 95%) and it works, With the throttle quadrant visible the mixture still shows fully rich, both before and after the warp, but no engine failure.
Thanks for the tip - now I can get on with the war.

Now hereīs another one: in the USAAF Campaign, I take off from a fully scenic Halesworth, but in Free Flight it is just the bare runway. How come? And can I do anything about it?

I'm not sure what Dan told you & don't wish to interfere.

The hangars & other objects you see in missions are defined in the missions themselves. These are mission objects & some will show damage if hit. Using this method the scenery can vary in each mission. The default airfields are usually very basic with just a simple runway for this reason. Some 3rd party airfields include fixed scenery objects like hangars & static aircraft. These are fine in Free Flight or QC but not ideal for use in missions. IMHO

Thanks - thatīs pretty much what Dan and Mag_dave said, but with more detail abaout the damage aspect, and what I sort of assumed. Really it was just curiosity, as the scenery is there for missions and for free flight I have lots of good add-ons such as the Mike Rennie Biggin Hill and plenty from Simviation too.
Thanks again.
